Russian PM's seek advice from to disputed island regrettable, Japan says

TOKYO, Aug 2 (Reuters) - A consult with on Friday by using Russian prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to an island claimed via both Japan and Russia became extremely regrettable, Japan's overseas ministry stated, urging Moscow to take valuable steps to increase ties.

Medvedev traveled to one of the crucial four Russian-held islands off Japan's northern place of Hokkaido. The island is referred to as Iturup in Russian and Etorofu in jap.

Such visits are incompatible with Japan's place on the Northern Territories and hurt the feelings of its people, the Ministry of international Affairs spoke of in a press release.
